About the event
This event is open to experienced adaptive mountain bikers.
Te Poaka is a grade 3 trail and can be ridden by adaptive riders on trikes, quads or two wheels. It is defined as a “flow” trail, very fast, smooth and wide, it does not have jumps, but does have a number of off-camber features on the way down. Competitors need to be able to stay under control and respond quickly to the terrain changes. It is recommended that competitors have ridden this trail before and have practise on it or are already confident downhill grade 3-4 trail riders.
The course will be fully marshalled and closed to the public during the race, riders can have an on-course support rider to follow them down the trail if they require.
A fit for purpose helmet must be worn by all riders, competitors and on-course support riders.
A final decision on categories will be made and announced once we have an understanding of how many competitors have entered in each of the expected categories combining our Open or Female adaptive riders with thier Two Wheel or Three Wheel equipment!
The race format will be a practise run starting no later than 9:30am, a timed run for seeding and a timed final run. 3 runs total for each rider.
Prize giving will happen straight after the final runs are complete at the #AdaptMTB gazebo at the base of Te Poaka trail.

We ask that competitors make their own way to the Event base at the bottom of Te Poaka trail in time* for check in and safety briefing. We will have a few keen volunteers on e-bikes to provide a tow to the trail head for anyone without their own e-assist motor.
*Time to be announced closer to the event.
More information will be posted on our website, as well as being emailed to the address you provide ahead of the event.
